Arsenal announce highly-rated Swede Eidevall as new head coach

Arsenal have this morning announced the news that highly-rated Swede Jonas Eidevall has agreed to become their new head coach.

The 38-year-old succeeds former Gunners head coach Joe Montemurro at Meadow Park with the Australian having left the club last month.

Eidevall has most recently been in charge of Swedish Damallsvenskan club FC Rosengård where he has enjoyed two spells as their head coach. He has won three league titles with the club along with the Swedish Cup. Eidevall has led the club through a number of UEFA Women’s Champions League campaigns, twice guiding FC Rosengård into the last eight of the competition.

Speaking following his appointment, Eidevall told Arsenal’s official media team “I feel honoured to be taking this role. Arsenal have a rich history, more successful than any other women’s team in England. I want to add to these honours.

“It’s super important that we win, and we will be very ambitious about that, but it’s even more important that we live the values and defend the club badge on a day-to-day basis. I cannot wait to do that at Arsenal.”

Eidevall’s record of winning titles and having success in Europe is exactly what Arsenal will have been looking for. The club are aiming to end a two-season title drought while they have not lifted European silverware since 2007.
