After weeks of speculation, Everton finally confirmed the signings of Swedish internationals Anna Anvegard and Nathalie Bjorn yesterday.
Forward Anvegard joined The Blue Girls on a free transfer while Everton paid an undisclosed fee to land her former FC Rosengard teammate Bjorn.
Manager Willie Kirk’s summer recruitment may now be in full swing with four players having joined the club but it is far from over. The Blue Girls have been linked with a third FC Rosengard player, midfielder Hanna Bennison, and you wouldn’t rule out seeing the Swedish international at Walton Hall Park in 2021/2022.
While Everton have successfully secured the services of Anvegard and Bjorn, a deal for Bennison always looked like the hardest one to strike. The 18-year-old is one of the most highly-rated young players in the Swedish game and with Bennison being under contract with FC Rosengard for another year, the club are not thought to be keen on letting her go unless their hefty valuation is met. If Everton really want Bennison, they are likely to have to meet her club’s price tag.
Tough negotiations with FC Rosengard is not the only challenge which The Blue Girls would face if they are wanting to acquire Bennison’s services. The player is thought to be wanted by last season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-finalists Bayern Munich while you wouldn’t be surprised to see her former coach Jonas Eidevall try to take her to Arsenal.
Given the fact that the speculation linking Anvegard and Bjorn to Everton turned out to be true, you’d expect that there is also truth in the Bennison links. That deal would be the hardest of the three to strike and fans may need to wait a little while longer to learn whether the Swede will be moving to Merseyside.
