Bristol City have completed the signing of England youth international Simran Jhamat according to reports on their official club website.
The 20-year-old much-travelled midfielder joins The Robins on a free transfer after leaving former club Lewes at the end of last season.
Jhamat becomes new interim head coach Lauren Smith’s third signing of the summer following the recent additions of Chloe O’Connor and Ava Kuyken.
After signing on at Bristol City, Jhamat said “Bristol City is a great club with a rich history in the women’s game – I’m excited for the next challenge in my career.
“I’ve spoken at length with the manager about the plans for the club, the move to the new home stadium and how I can contribute on the pitch this season, and that’s what made my decision for me.
“Pre-season is going to be tough as we prepare for an incredibly competitive Championship season but it’s a challenge that I’m ready to embrace.”
Despite having just entered her twenties, Jhamat’s move to Bristol City sees her represent her fifth different club. The player started her senior career with Liverpool in 2018 before later spending time with Leicester City, Coventry United and Lewes. The midfielder already has 31 FA Women’s Championship appearances to her name and that experience and knowledge of the league will be precious to new club Bristol City.
Jhamat is also experienced at international level having represented England at various levels up to the Under-19 group. The player will be keen to push for further international recognition during her time with her new club.
