Leicester City manager Jonathan Morgan has signed a new contract with the club according to reports on The Foxes’ official website.
Morgan has been in charge for seven years, guiding the club to the FA Women’s Championship title last season. The Foxes ended the campaign eight points clear of nearest challengers Durham.
With Leicester City now preparing for a first-ever season in the top flight, today’s news that Morgan has signed a new contract is a further boost for the club.
After signing his new deal, Morgan said “I’m massively pleased. After last season, it was a great year, it was a formidable year really for us, we won the league and broke records.
“For me, there was never a doubt that I wanted to continue the journey into the WSL and I’m just very delighted that we were able to get the deal over the line.”
Within the first couple of years of occupying his first team manager role, Morgan helped Leicester City to promotion to the FA Women’s Northern Division courtesy of a perfect winning record. The club continually improved at their new level and were awarded an FA Women’s Championship licence in 2018.
Morgan has guided Leicester City to promotion to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League after just three seasons in the second tier. Given the club’s astute signings this summer, they will certainly not be just making up the numbers in 2021/2022.
