Manchester United have completed the signing of goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley according to reports on the club’s official website.
The 24-year-old Newton-born stopper moves to The Leigh Sports Village on a free transfer after leaving former club Bristol City at the end of last season.
Baggaley spent four years with The Robins in which she represented the club on 72 occasions in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League. The player started her senior career with Birmingham City.
After securing a move to Manchester United, Baggaley said “It’s a great feeling to sign for Manchester United, a fresh new start for me and I’m looking forward to settling in and really putting the work in ahead of the new season.
“I know the goalkeeping department at the club is strong and everyone is here to compete which will really help me push on in my own development.
“I can’t wait to get started. I want to be part of success at this club and make the fans proud.”
Baggaley becomes Manchester United’s third signing of the summer. The player’s arrival at The Leigh Sports Village caps-off a very busy week for the club. The Red Devils have also signed Norwegian international midfielder Vilde Bøe Risa and Chelsea’s Hannah Blundell while the appointment of a new head coach is not thought to be far away.
