Bristol City have completed the signing of former Charlton Athletic forward Ella Powell according to reports on The Robins’ official website.
The 21-year-old moves to the South West as a free agent after leaving her former club at the end of last season.
Powell spent one season with The Addicks in which she made 13 appearances for the club in the FA Women’s Championship. The player has also previously turned out for Lewes in the second tier.
After securing her move to Bristol City, Powell said “I’m excited for a new challenge in my career at Bristol City.
“I’ve worked with Lauren (Smith) before in the national team set-up, which was a huge draw in me coming to the club and I’m eager to grow and develop as a player under her this season.
“I’m determined to kick on this year on the pitch and establish myself as a key member of the squad, with the hope my performances at club level for Bristol City will lead to more international caps with Wales.”
After coming through the youth ranks at Cardiff City Ladies, Powell spent time in the United States with George State Panthers. She returned to the UK in 2019 where she linked-up with Lewes.
On the international stage, Powell has two senior caps for Wales and she will be hoping that the move to Bristol City increases her claims for the Welsh national team.
