Bristol City loan Manchester United keeper Bentley

Bristol City have completed the signing of goalkeeper Fran Bentley on a loan deal from Manchester United according to reports on The Robins’ official website.

The 20-year-old stopper will spend the new season with Bristol City as the club look to challenge for promotion back to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.

Bentley is the second goalkeeper to join Bristol City today with the club having also acquired the services of Sophie Whitehouse after her contract expired with former club Birmingham City.

After completing her move to Bristol City, Bentley said “I’m looking forward to a season of development at Bristol City – it’s an opportunity for me to push on and grow as a goalkeeper.

“I’ve had great conversations with the head coach (Lauren Smith) and the goalkeeper coach (Dan Smith) about the plans for me and ambitions of the club for this season and it’s an exciting challenge.

“Sophie (Whitehouse) has already come in as well as Erin (Foley) and we’re going to push each other as a group of keepers to get better every day.”

Two young goalkeepers have now left Manchester United today with Bentley being joined on the departure list at The Leigh Sports Village by Emily Ramsey who has joined Birmingham City on loan.
