Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Alanna Kennedy has joined Manchester City on a two-year deal.
The 26-year-old Australian international moves to The Academy Stadium on a free transfer after leaving Spurs at the end of last season after spending one year in North London.
Manchester City announced the news this morning via an official club press release.
Kennedy becomes Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor’s fifth signing of the summer while she joins international teammate Hayley Raso at The Academy Stadium.
After completing her move to Manchester City, Kennedy said “I’m super excited – it’s an amazing Club, and I’m just honoured to be a part of it
“Obviously Manchester City as a whole is amazing and they’re known across the globe, but also I think just the style of football that’s played here will suit me personally.
“I want to help the team any way that I can, but what attracted me to it mostly is just the brand of football that they play here as it’s incredible to watch.”
Kennedy made 19 appearances for former club Tottenham Hotspur in last season’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League while she netted one league goal which came against Manchester United. The player returns to England after helping Australia to a fourth-place finish at this summer’s Olympic Games.
The defender, who can also operate in midfield, will wear the number 33 for her new club this season.
