Birmingham City defender Scott returns to Republic of Ireland squad

Birmingham City defender Harriet Scott is back in the Republic of Ireland squad for this month’s international friendly against Australia in Dublin.

Vera Pauw’s side were set to begin their FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia New Zealand 2023 qualifying campaign in Georgia this month but that game has been rescheduled for next summer. The Republic of Ireland will now take on an Australian side who were fourth at this summer’s Olympic Games.

The Football Association of Ireland informed FAWSL Full-Time of head coach Pauw’s 27-player squad for the upcoming camp earlier today with Birmingham City defender Scott being one of three players returning to the squad. The full-back has not been seen in the Republic of Ireland squad since the nation’s final UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 qualifying match against Germany in December with Scott balancing football with her studies.

Scott made her senior debut for the Republic of Ireland back in 2017 at the Cyprus Cup. She has since gone on to made 20 appearances for her country. The player is joined in Republic of Ireland squad by club teammates Louise Quinn, Jamie Finn and Emily Whelan.

The Republic of Ireland take on Australia in Dublin on Tuesday 21 September. Fans will be permitted to attend.
