Manchester City will be hoping to take another step towards qualification for the FA Women’s Continental League Cup quarter-finals when they face second tier side Durham in a group match at The Academy Stadium on Thursday.
The Cityzens defeated Everton 5-1 in their first group match and they now take on a Durham side who battled to a 2-2 draw with Manchester United in their FA Women’s Continental League Cup opener.
Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor has confirmed that forward Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw will miss the game with a foot injury while Ellie Roebuck, Karen Bardsley, Steph Houghton, Lucy Bronze, Esme Morgan and Chloe Kelly remain sidelined with their respective long term injuries. Defenders Ruby Mace and Alanna Kennedy will return to the fold after being cup-tied for Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in the semi-finals of Vitality Women’s FA Cup.
Durham travel to the North West without long term absentee Nicki Gears. Defender Rebecca Salicki picked up an injury against London City Lionesses on Sunday and while it is not thought to be serious, she may not be risked. The current condition of forward Liz Ejupi is unknown with the player having missed the last four games.
The FA Women’s Continental League Cup group fixture between Manchester City and Durham kicks-off at 7pm on Thursday evening. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here.
