Matches involving Manchester City have produced the most goals per game in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League so far this season.
It has not always been good watching for fans of The Cityzens but they have certainly had plenty of entertainment along the way.
Looking specifically at average goals per game, matches involving Manchester City have produced 4.11 goals per game. Gareth Taylor’s side have scored 19 goals in nine games so far, however, they have been breached on 18 occasions.
Chelsea and Arsenal are both joint-second in the entertainment rankings with games involving those clubs having produced 3.67 goals per game while Manchester United rank in fourth having seen 3.2 goals scored per game in their matches.
At the other end of the goal rankings, the team to avoid if you want to see goals is Tottenham Hotspur. Their games have produced just 1.9 goals per game, the lowest of any of the 12 Barclays FA Women’s Super League clubs. It should be noted that The Lilywhites are enjoying their best top flight season to date with resolute defending and clinical attacking being major factors of their play. Spurs are the joint-sixth top scorers in the league but their defensive record can only be bettered by Arsenal and Chelsea.
Given the weekend’s postponements, the averages have been worked out on the basis that some clubs have played 10 games while others have played nine.
