Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall has confirmed that the club are looking to be active in the current transfer window, although no deals are set to be completed just yet.
The Gunners are aiming to end a three-year trophy drought this season with Eidevall’s side competing for four pieces of silverware.
The club’s involvement in those competitions will add physical and mental strain upon the squad and head coach Eidevall has today confirmed that he is looking to bolster and improve the quality of his group.
“We definitely have ambitions in this transfer window and we will communicate things when they are official,” Eidevall said in an Arsenal press conference in which FAWSL Full-Time were present. “There are many great players that could be a good fit for us here.
“We have to be a little bit curious and a bit patient before we reveal anything but hopefully, in the coming weeks we will have news.”
One player has left Meadow Park in the current transfer window with young defender Anna Patten having joined Arsenal’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League rivals Aston Villa on loan for the remainder of the season. Eidevall said that the move is an important one for the development of Patten’s long term Arsenal career.
He said “I think it will be great for Anna because she really wanted to be having more game time and I think that Aston Villa will provide that in her natural role of centre-back. That suits her better than with us because she was mainly a right full-back for us but we all agree that her best position is a central defender.
“I think playing at Aston Villa will be really great for her development and also for her future at Arsenal.”
Arsenal return to action following the Christmas break on Sunday when they travel to St Andrew’s to face Birmingham City.
