Aston Villa teenager Goodwin joins Leicester City

Aston Villa’s teenage forward Missy Goodwin has joined Leicester City until the end of the season according to reports on The Foxes’ official website.

It is thought that the 18-year-old has signed with Leicester City on a dual registration basis with the East Midlands club having acquired her services for the remainder of the campaign.

Goodwin came through the youth ranks at both Birmingham City and Aston Villa. The forward has largely represented The Villans at WSL Academy level but she did make her senior debut for the club against Sheffield United in an FA Women’s Continental League Cup group match back in November.

The youngster is well-known to Leicester City manager Lydia Bedford with Goodwin having represented England at various youth levels up to and including Under-19 level.

After completing her move to The King Power Stadium, Goodwin said “It’s really exciting. It’s been good to get going. It’s a great environment and the facilities speak for themselves.

“I just think it’s a club that has got great ambitions and the process that they have been through so far just to get into the Super League is fantastic and it’s something that I couldn’t wait to join.”

Goodwin could go straight into the Leicester City squad for their Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture at Reading on Sunday.
