Arsenal have confirmed that United States international forward Tobin Heath has returned to training following a niggling injury.
The 33-year-old twice-crowned FIFA Women’s World Cup winner has been sidelined for the best part of three months with what is believed to have been a muscle problem.
Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall has previously stated his desire for the club to take their time in bringing Heath back to avoid any further reoccurrences of her injury but the player now seems set to step up her fitness bid. The Gunners provided news of Heath’s return to the training pitch via a post of their official club Twitter account earlier this afternoon.

Eidevall opted against setting a timescale for Heath’s return to competitive action during his press conference last week, simply confirming that the forward and defender Leah Williamson would be available for selection before the February international window. Heath’s return to training may have come too late for her to face former club Manchester United in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup at Meadow Park next Wednesday but the forward will get another opportunity to face The Red Devils next month with the two sides set to contest a league encounter at Meadow Park on 6 February.
Heath’s return to the training pitch offers Arsenal and their fans a welcome boost. The Gunners lost the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table on Sunday after suffering a shock 2-0 defeat at then-bottom club Birmingham City.
