Chelsea v Arsenal – Stat Attack

Chelsea and Arsenal will battle it out for the right to end the night top of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table when the pair meet at Kingsmeadow this evening.

The Blues trail The Gunners by two points in the title race with Jonas Eidevall’s Arsenal side having been the long-time leaders at the summit.

Ahead of the match, FAWSL Full-Time have taken a look at some of the Opta statistics surrounding the game and here are four facts which relate to Chelsea’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Arsenal.

Arsenal seeking historic double

Following their 3-2 win over Chelsea on the opening weekend of the season, Arsenal are looking to complete a Barclays FA Women’s Super League double over The Blues for the first time since the 2013 campaign. The North Londoners won the home fixture that season 2-1 before coming out 1-0 winners at Chelsea.

Chelsea have a strong record against Arsenal

Chelsea have only lost one of their last six top flight clashes with Arsenal (W4 D1) and have won each of their last two on home soil. Emma Hayes’ side won 2-1 at Kingsmeadow in 2019/2020 and they were 3-0 winners last season at the same venue. You have to go back to 2018 for Arsenal’s last victory at Kingsmeadow in the league.

A ground-breaking night for The Blues

Chelsea have never before played in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League on a Friday and they will become the sixth side to play at least once on each day of the week in the competition after Arsenal, Bristol City, Liverpool, Manchester City and Notts County. This will also be the very first London derby to be played on a Friday in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and Arsenal’s first away fixture on that day of the week.

Harder is dangerous against The Gunners

Chelsea forward Pernille Harder has scored more Barclays FA Women’s Super League goals against Arsenal than she has against any other side (3) with all three strikes coming in her last two games. The last player in the competition to net in three successive matches against The Gunners was Jane Ross.

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Chelsea and Arsenal kicks-off at 7.45pm.
