Manchester City and Everton will battle it out for a place in the semi-finals of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup when they contest their quarter-final tie at The Academy Stadium this afternoon.
Manchester City have won the competition on three previous occasions, their last success coming in 2020, while Everton were winners in 2010 and also lifted the trophy in 1989 under the name of Leasowe Pacific.
Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor remains without long term absentees Karen Bardsley, Karima Benameur Taieb, Esme Morgan, Steph Houghton and Chloe Kelly for the tie against Everton. The latter is making great progress in her recovery from an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury. Spanish midfielder Vicky Losada has not yet overcome an injury which she sustained against Manchester United last month.
Everton’s interim manager Chris Roberts has no fresh injury concerns following his side’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in midweek. One player who will be missing is star forward Anna Anvegård who is being carefully managed after recently suffering concussion. Long term absentee Nicoline Sørensen remains sidelined and may not be seen in a blue shirt again this season.
The Vitality Women’s FA Cup quarter-final tie between Manchester City and Everton kicks-off at 12.30pm this afternoon. Tickets will remain on-sale right up until kick-off.
