Leicester City v Chelsea – Stat Attack

Chelsea will be aiming to go top of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table for the first time this season when they travel to The King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City this afternoon.

The Blues are two points adrift of league leaders Arsenal who saw their North London derby fixture against Tottenham Hotspur postponed due to COVID-19.

Ahead of the match, FAWSL Full-Time have reviewed the statistics by Opta. Here are four facts which relate to Leicester City’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Chelsea.

Chelsea left it late at Kingsmeadow

The only previous Barclays FA Women’s Super League meeting between these sides saw Chelsea win 2-0 at Kingsmeadow back in October. Leicester City held on until the 83rd minute before late goals from Pernille Harder and Fran Kirby won Chelsea an important three points in the title race.

Leicester City will have real belief

After losing each of their first four home matches in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League this season, Leicester City have since won three of their last four, keeping a clean sheet in each victory, including in their last such match against West Ham United back in February. Taking on Chelsea will not be easy but The Foxes are now a stronger prospect on their own turf.

Leicester City’s goals could come from anywhere

Leicester City have scored nine goals at home this season in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League with each goal being scored by a different player (including an own goal). The East Midlands side are the only team without any player on two or more home goals in the competition this season.

Kerr could be key to a Chelsea success

Chelsea forward Sam Kerr has been involved in five goals in just three Barclays FA Women’s Super League appearances against newly-promoted clubs (3 goals, 2 assists). She assisted Fran Kirby for the second goal in Chelsea’s 2-0 home win over Leicester City earlier this season.

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Leicester City and Chelsea kicks-off at 3pm.
