Racing Louisville announce signing of Birmingham City defender Holloway

American National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Racing Louisville have completed the signing of Birmingham City defender Rebecca Holloway for an undisclosed fee.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the deal via an official club press release from Birmingham City this afternoon.

Holloway has spent the last three seasons with the Blues after joining the club from Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) outfit Nashville Rhythm in 2019. The player will now return to the United States after spending almost three years in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League with the Blues.

In her time at Birmingham City, Holloway has made 49 appearances for the club in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League, helping her side to safety in the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 seasons. The player leaves St Andrew’s with five games of the current season remaining.

Holloway was unveiled at new club Racing Louisville earlier this afternoon and after joining the NWSL side, she told their official media team “Playing in the NWSL has always been an ambition of mine and to now say that I will be a Racing Louisville player seems surreal.

“I’m excited to get going and contribute as much as I can to the team for the remainder of the Challenge Cup and the regular season.”

Holloway has signed a two-year deal Stateside and she will arrive in Louisville once a work visa has been obtained.
