Reading manager Kelly Chambers says that she already knows exactly what to expect from West Ham United at the Select Car Leasing Stadium this afternoon.
The Royals have met The Hammers twice already this season in the reverse fixture in the league and in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup.
West Ham United boss Olli Harder is very clear with what he expects from his players and Reading boss Chambers says that she knows exactly what kind of test The Hammers will provide this afternoon.
“I don’t think West Ham have changed much in any game that they have played this season,” Chambers said when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “We know what to expect, we know they are man-for-man or woman-for-woman defensively in the press.
“We know what we are going to face, we know that we always have a tough encounter against them and we just have to prepare ourselves for what we are going to face which is what we have been doing this week. When we go into the game, we need to focus on us and ensure that we get our bit right before anything else.”
Despite improving their home form this season, Reading have failed to win any of their last three matches at the Select Car Leasing Stadium. With two home games remaining, Chambers is hoping for a strong finish from her side.
She said “It’s important (to finish strong). After the Chelsea game, there was a real reflection in terms of what we want to get out of the next three games and the last three weeks of the season. For me, it is just focusing on each game as it comes but we want to finish as high up the league as possible and we have two home games.
“We have had great home form but we have to use that to really push to get points on the board and finish as high up the league as we can. We have built a foundation now that we have not previously had at the stadium so it is important that we try to get back to that so that when we step into next season, it’s the same.”
Reading’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against West Ham United kicks-off at 2pm.
