Defender Newsham signs new deal with Sheffield United

Sheffield United defender Charlotte Newsham has signed a new contract with the club for next season.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release issued by Sheffield United this afternoon.

Newsham has just completed her first season with The Blades after joining the club from Blackburn Rovers last summer. The defender made 13 appearances for the South Yorkshire club in this season’s FA Women’s Championship, helping Neil Redfearn’s side record a mid-table finish. The full-back spent a large chunk of the campaign on the sidelines with an ankle injury and there is undoubtedly more to come from the 22-year-old.

After signing on again with Sheffield United, Newsham said “I’m delighted to have signed another contract with Sheffield United as I really enjoyed my first season as a Blade with Redders and the team.

“I’m even more excited and eager than normal for pre-season to start this year as I made my return from injury right at the end of last season. I can’t wait to get back in training and playing games as I felt before my injury I was enjoying and getting consistency within my game and I hope to find that again after a tough injury and hard-working rehabilitation period.”

Newsham follows Courtney Sweetman-Kirk and Maddy Cusack is signing fresh terms with The Blades this week.
