French international defender Hawa Cissoko has signed a new two-year contract with West Ham United according to reports on The Hammers’ official website.
The 25-year-old versatile defender has brought a real physical edge to the West Ham United team since her arrival at the club in summer 2020. The player has made 31 appearances for The Hammers in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League over the course of the last two seasons while her good performances have resulted in her receiving international honours with France.
Cissoko is an important member of the West Ham United team and news of her new long term deal will be welcomed by all involved with the club.
After signing on again at The Chigwell Construction Stadium, Cissoko said “I’ve made big improvements as a player since I joined West Ham United. I have to thank my coaches, teammates and fans for their support, I’m so happy here and can’t wait to see what next season holds.
“I think we created something amazing last season with the squad that we had, but football is football, and players move on. We now have to show the new players that will be coming in the West Ham way, and look to improve on what we achieved last season.
“Personally, I want to make improvements across the board next season, everything has to go up a level or two.”
Cissoko follows Kate Longhurst and Dagný Brynjarsdóttir in signing on again with West Ham United this summer.
