Lewes defender Mason signs new deal

Lewes defender Ellie Mason has signed new terms with the club for next season.

The 26-year-old joined The Rookettes last summer after leaving fellow second tier club London City Lionesses and she went on to make 11 appearances for Lewes in the FA Women’s Championship.

Mason overcame a serious injury to star for Lewes in the second half of the season. The player put her injury woes behind her as she displayed real quality at the back. Mason impressed enough to be offered another deal for next season at The Dripping Pan.

After extending her Lewes stay, Mason said “When I signed for Lewes last season, I was in a totally different place mentally and physically.

“They put their faith in me by signing an injured player. I gave nothing but gratitude to all of the staff and players for helping me through one of the toughest periods of my life.

“I’ve had a chat with Scott (Booth) already and I’m so excited to be working with him and looking forward to see what he can achieve with the club. I cannot wait to get started.”

Mason joins teenage defender Ellie Hack in signing a new deal with Lewes. Further player updates are thought to be imminent.
