Full-back Martha Harris will leave Barclays Women’s Super League club Manchester United when her contract expires this summer.
The Red Devils announced the news via an update on their official club website just a short time ago. Harris has been with Manchester United since their formation as a full-time women’s team in 2018. The player’s departure comes as no real surprise with Harris having been limited to just one substitute appearance for her club in the Barclays Women’s Super League this season.
The defender made 15 appearances in the Barclays Women’s Championship in 2018/2019 as Manchester United won the league title and promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League at the first time of asking. The player added a further 11 league appearances to her tally in The Red Devils’ first season in the top flight before injury and greater competition for places saw her game time become more limited.
In her time at the Leigh Sports Village, Harris has represented Manchester United on 49 occasions in all competitions. The player netted her only goal for the club in a 5-0 Barclays Women’s Championship victory at Millwall Lionesses in April 2019.
Harris is the first player to leave Manchester United in the close season. She will officially move on when her current deal expires at the end of this month.
