Former Arsenal midfielder Evans joins West Ham United on permanent basis

West Ham United have completed the signing of former Arsenal midfielder Lisa Evans on a permanent contract.

The 30-year-old returns to The Chigwell Construction Stadium after enjoying a successful loan spell with The Hammers this season. The midfielder made 16 appearances for the East Londoners in the Barclays Women’s Super League this season, scoring one goal. Evans recently left Arsenal at the end of her contract and she therefore joins West Ham United on a free transfer.

The Hammers confirmed the deal via an update on their official club website this afternoon. Evans is West Ham United’s second signing of the day following the arrival of teenager Halle Houssein.

After completing a permanent move to West Ham United, Evans said “I’m delighted to be back with West Ham.

“I knew when my loan was coming to an end that I wanted to be here for the long-term. I really enjoyed being here last season and I felt like it was an unfinished chapter in my life.

“This is a project that I want to be a part of moving forward, so it was an easy decision for me to come back here.”

West Ham United have now made three summer signings with Evans and Houssein joining Jess Ziu at the club.
