Tottenham Hotspur have announced the news that they will tour the United States for the first time this summer.
Rehanne Skinner’s side will participate in The Women’s Cup in Louisville, Kentucky as part of their preparations for the new Barclays Women’s Super League season.
The tournament includes six teams from around the world, those being Spurs, Racing Louisville, AC Milan, OL Reign, Club América and Tokyo Verdy.
Matches will be staged at Racing Louisville’s Lynn Family Stadium between 14 and 20 August 2022. Spurs will face Mexican side Club América in their opening match on 14 August 2022. National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club OL Reign will take on the winner of that match in the semi-finals on 17 August 2022, the loser of the Spurs and Club América tie will face AC Milan or Tokyo Verdy on the same day in a fifth-place play-off. The Women’s Cup final and third place play-off are scheduled to take place on 20 August 2022.
The Women’s Cup will provide Skinner’s Spurs with some stern competition ahead of the start of the new Barclays Women’s Super League season in September. The North Londoners will be hoping to push on towards the European qualification places in 2022/2023 and their pre-season opponents should prepare them well for the domestic battles ahead.
