England forward Ellen White will miss Friday’s international friendly fixture against The Netherlands at Elland Road due to COVID-19.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official press release from The Football Association this morning.
White’s positive COVID-19 test has been recorded during the last 24 hours. As a result, the player has been sent home to rest and recover before hopefully returning to camp as soon as possible. At this stage, no other players are thought to have been affected. England head coach Sarina Wiegman will not call-up a replacement for White for her side’s latest UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 warm-up match against The Netherlands in Leeds on Friday. The Lionesses boss will go into the game with a 22-player squad available for selection.
England kicked-off their preparations for this summer’s home EUROs with an international friendly against Belgium at Molineux in Wolverhampton last Thursday. The Lionesses went on to win that match 3-0 thanks to two own goals and a Rachel Daly strike. England’s game against The Netherlands on Friday is their last on home soil before the EUROs. The Lionesses will play one further warm-up match before the tournament begins which is against Switzerland in Zürich next Thursday.
Fans can buy tickets for Friday’s game against The Netherlands direct from the Leeds United ticket office.
