West Ham United forward Adriana Leon will leave the club when her contract expires at the end of this month according to reports on The Hammers’ official website.
The 29-year-old joined West Ham United during the club’s first season in the Barclays Women’s Super League. Leon has gone on to score nine league goals in 43 outings for the East Londoners.
It is understood that West Ham United wanted to retain Leon’s services beyond the summer but the Canadian international has opted against signing a new deal at The Chigwell Construction Stadium. The forward could now be set for a move to Spain’s Primera Iberdrola with both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid having been linked with the player in recent weeks. There is also thought to be some interest in Leon from the Barclays Women’s Super League.
During her time with West Ham United, Leon was a Vitality Women’s FA Cup runner-up with The Hammers while she helped the club to record a record points tally in this season’s Barclays Women’s Super League. The player’s impact could arguably have been greater if not for some injury problems during her stay in East London.
Leon is the seventh player to leave West Ham United during the close season.
