Nottingham Forest midfielder Brown joins Sheffield United

Sheffield United have completed the signing of former Scottish youth international midfielder Rachel Brown from Nottingham Forest.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the transfer via an official club press release from Sheffield United this evening.

The 21-year-old is making the step up to the elite game this season after previously turning out for former club Forest in the third tier of the English game. Brown is a goalscoring midfielder with the player having netted on 11 occasions for The Tricky Trees last season. The player can also sit deep in front of the defence when required.

After completing her move to Sheffield United, Brown said “I’m really excited. I’ve been in talks for a few weeks now and I’m just really excited to get into pre-season and get the season going.

“I’ve played in this league before and I feel it’s the right time for me now to step back up. Sheffield United is a good club with good players and I’m looking forward to being part of that environment.”

Brown becomes Sheffield United head coach Neil Redfearn’s second signing of the transfer window following the recent addition of full-back Maria Francis-Jones who has joined The Blades on a dual-registration basis from Manchester City.
