Charlton Athletic sign Lewes midfielder Ayisi

Charlton Athletic have completed the signing of Lewes midfielder Freda Ayisi on an initial one-year contract.

The Addicks announced news of their latest addition this afternoon via a post on their official club website.

Ayisi has a wealth of experience in the Barclays Women’s Championship. After starting her senior career with top flight clubs Arsenal and Birmingham City, the player has played regularly in the second tier with Leicester City, London City Lionesses and latest club Lewes. Ayisi made 17 Barclays Women’s Championship appearances for Lewes last term, scoring one goal.

The midfielder is yet to win a Barclays Women’s Championship title and she will be hoping to finally end her long wait for that piece of silverware with her new club.

After completing her move to Charlton Athletic, Ayisi said “I am excited to be back. I was here when I was younger and I have always had a great experience here.

“Whilst I am here I am looking to create, produce goals, assists and just have a good time on the pitch.”

Ayisi becomes Charlton Athletic head coach Karen Hills’ second signing of the summer transfer window. The Addicks boss added former Tottenham Hotspur attacker Angela Addison to her squad yesterday.
