Leicester City sign American defender Simon

Leicester City have completed the signing of American defender Erin Simon on a free transfer according to reports on The Foxes’ official club website.

The 27-year-old moves to The King Power Stadium after spending the last two years with National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Racing Louisville.

Simon does have previous experience of the Barclays Women’s Super League. The player spent time with West Ham United between September 2018 and January 2020. The defender helped The Hammers to reach the 2018/2019 Vitality Women’s FA Cup final while she made 19 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

After completing her move to Leicester City, Simon said “I am excited to be back in the UK. Everyone here has been incredible so far and very welcoming. I am looking forward to spending more time with my teammates.

“Lydia has an awesome mindset and a great perspective of the game. I am really excited to be working with her and being a part of this team. This season will see us push to reach higher standards, and we definitely want to climb the table.”

Simon is the third player to join Leicester City this summer following the recent additions of Josie Green and Aileen Whelan.
