Manchester City will take on Arsenal in a mouthwatering clash at The Academy Stadium on the opening day of the 2022/2023 Barclays Women’s Super League season.
The fixtures were released this afternoon with the showdown of two title hopefuls being the most eye-catching game on opening day.
Elsewhere, reigning champions Chelsea will host West Ham United at Kingsmeadow while Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United will hope to put down their early claims for European qualification in the first Barclays Women’s Super League match at Leyton Orient FC’s Breyer Group Stadium. Newly-promoted Liverpool travel to Reading, Brighton & Hove Albion host Aston Villa while Brian Sørensen’s Everton take on Leicester City at Walton Hall Park.
The opening fixtures of the 2022/2023 Barclays Women’s Super League season will be staged over the weekend of 10/11 September 2022.
Following the announcement of the new season’s fixtures, Kelly Simmons, Director of the Women’s Professional Game, said “This season’s Barclays Women’s Super League promises to be the biggest ever and I cannot wait for us to kick-off the new campaign.
“I always look forward to fixture release day and like the fans, I like to plot where I am going to go and when, with so many mouth-watering encounters to choose from.
