New deal for Durham midfielder Briggs

Midfielder Lauren Briggs has signed a new contract with Durham for the upcoming season according to reports on the club’s official website.

Briggs joined The Wildcats for the 2017 FA Women’s Super League 2 Spring Series and the player has gone on to make 83 appearances for the club. The midfielder has been arguably one of Durham’s best players over the last couple of seasons.

In 2021/2022, Briggs featured in every Durham match in all competitions, a sign of her importance to Lee Sanders’ side.

After signing on again with The Wildcats, Briggs said “I’m thrilled to have extended my time here.

“Obviously, we’ve had the opportunity to go to a full-time programme now and it’s something that I’ve always wanted to do with Durham.

“I’m really excited for the opportunity and ready to put the work in and progress on.

“I’ve been at the club since I was probably about five-years-old, so to see it transform into a full-time programme is a memory I’ll always cherish.

“All the girls were ready to come back and have put the graft in during the first week. The mood in camp is really positive and we’re ready to progress on.”

Briggs joins teammates Sarah Robson, Sarah Wilson and Mollie Lambert in signing a new deal with Durham this summer.
