Bristol City midfielder Gwen Davies has left the club according to reports on The Robins’ official club website.
The 22-year-old Welsh international midfielder spent one season at The Robins’ High Performance Centre after joining the club last summer.
Davies made 15 appearances for Lauren Smith’s side in last season’s Barclays Women’s Championship, helping the club to record a respectable third-place finish, nine of her league outings came as starts. The midfielder was a reliable option for the club when called upon throughout the season.
It has today been reported that the former Cardiff City Ladies player has opted to leave Bristol City this summer. Davies will explore other opportunities ahead of the 2022/2023 campaign. It is unknown whether the midfielder will look to remain in the full-time game or whether she will revert back to part-time football.
Davies is the ninth player to leave Bristol City so far this summer. Head coach Lauren Smith has so far added five new faces to her group for the new campaign across various positions. The Bristol City boss will undoubtedly make further signings in the summer transfer window with The Robins aiming for promotion back to the Barclays Women’s Super League at the second attempt.
