England’s EURO progress feels surreal says Arsenal forward Parris

Arsenal forward Nikita Parris says that the progress that England have made in the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 feels surreal.

The Lionesses have recorded five wins out of five so far and they will now take on Germany in the final at a sold-out Wembley on Sunday.

When speaking on the latest broadcast of Lionesses Live, Parris said that while the target at the start of the tournament was to reach the final, the feeling of getting there is surreal.

“It feels surreal,” Parris said. “At the start of the tournament, everyone obviously wanted to get to the final and everyone wants to win the tournament of course but the work that goes on between that is really tough.”

This set of Lionesses are a special group. Head coach Sarina Wiegman has selected a near-perfect squad with every player knowing their individual contribution to the team. Parris went on to hail the harmony and understanding within the team.

She said “It’s massive to have the chemistry and the understanding of each other and of what people need in the big, high-pressure moments and ultimately sticking together when times are good and when times are hard, because that’s football. You’re going to have ups and downs but if we stick together, we know we can get through it.”

The UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 final between England and Germany kicks-off at 5pm on Sunday evening.
