Liverpool captain Niamh Fahey has signed a new deal with the club according to reports on The Reds’ official website.
The 34-year-old defender is very much a club legend after putting in some heroic performances at the back over the course of the last four seasons.
Last season saw Fahey make 19 appearances in the Barclays Women’s Championship as she led Liverpool to the league title and promotion back to the Barclays Women’s Super League. Despite being in the latter years of her career, Fahey is a real asset to Liverpool and the club have therefore moved to tie her down at Prenton Park for another year.
After signing her new deal with The Reds, Fahey said “It’s brilliant, I’m so excited for the year ahead and I’m delighted to extend my stay.
“Getting to lift the trophy last season with this group of girls and staff, there’s nowhere else I’d rather be. It wasn’t even a decision.
“It’s something that has sunk in over the summer and obviously makes me very proud.”
Fahey is the seventh Liverpool player to sign a new deal with the club so far this summer. She joins Megan Campbell, Melissa Lawley, Ceri Holland, Leighanne Robe, Rachael Laws and Lucy Parry in signing on again at Prenton Park.
