Sunderland have re-signed forward Danielle Brown from Barclays Women’s Championship rivals Durham for an undisclosed fee.
The Lady Black Cats confirmed the news this afternoon via a post on their official club website.
Brown previously represented Sunderland in their days as a top flight club, she clocked up more than 20 Barclays Women’s Super League appearances for The Lady Black Cats.
The forward has spent the last 18 months with Durham. Brown has made 26 appearances for The Wildcats in the Barclays Women’s Championship, although she failed to find the back of the net.
After signing on with The Lady Black Cats, Brown said “I’m absolutely delighted to be back here at Sunderland and especially with Mel (Reay) and Steph (Libbey), exceptional coaches who I have loved playing for previously.
“I feel like as a player, I have matured a lot since being here before, so I can bring a lot more to the team and bring experience at this level whilst continuing to learn.
“My previous time at Sunderland saw me in a more defensive role, but I have been far more attacking since and I feel like I bring speed, skill and goal contributions to the side.”
Brown is Sunderland’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window.
