PREVIEW: Arsenal v Brighton & Hove Albion

The 2022/2023 Barclays Women’s Super League season finally gets underway when Arsenal take on Brighton & Hove Albion at the LV Bet Stadium in Boreham Wood on Friday evening.

The Gunners will have a renewed title push in their sights while Brighton & Hove Albion manager Hope Powell will be demanding progression from her side this season.

Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall could hand a debut to summer signing Lina Hurtig against The Seagulls. Another new addition in Kaylan Marckese is likely to start the new season as an understudy to first-choice goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger. Steph Catley and Caitlin Foord have been declared fit to play but youngster Teyah Goldie remains sidelined with a long term injury.

Brighton & Hove Albion will arrive in Boreham Wood with up to six new players in their ranks. Manager Powell could field Poppy Pattinson, Veatriki Sarri, Park Ye-eun, Elisabeth Terland and Jorja Fox for the first time while defender Rebekah Stott is set to be handed a second debut. Megan Connelly will miss out as she recovers from a double injury which she sustained whilst on international duty with the Republic of Ireland.

The opening fixture of the 2022/2023 Barclays Women’s Super League season kicks-off at 7.30pm on Friday evening. The match has been declared a sell-out with no further tickets expected to become available.
