PREVIEW: Ajax v Arsenal

Arsenal will be hoping to secure a safe passage into the group stage of this season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League when they face Ajax in the second leg of their Round 2 tie on Wednesday evening.

The two sides played out a 2-2 draw at the LV Bet Stadium in Boreham Wood in the first leg last week and the return fixture at the Sportpark de Toekomst in Amsterdam looks set to be every bit as keenly-contested.

Suzanne Bakker’s Ajax squad are thought to be in good shape as the club look to make history in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. The Dutch outfit have only previously reached the last-16 once while they are yet to feature in the group stage. Bakker is likely to name a similar side to the one which battled to that first leg draw.

Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall has no new injury concerns to contend with off the back of his side’s excellent 4-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby at the weekend. Youngster Teyah Goldie remains the club’s only absentee, although she did recently return to the training pitch following a long term injury.

The UEFA Women’s Champions League Round 2, second leg tie between Ajax and Arsenal kicks-off at 6pm on Wednesday evening. The match will be available to stream live on arsenal.com and via the club’s official app.
