PREVIEW: Liverpool v Arsenal

Arsenal will be hoping to build on their wonderful midweek victory over Lyon when they return to domestic action against Liverpool at Prenton Park on Sunday.

The Gunners defeated the European champions 5-1 in a UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage match at the Groupama Stadium on Wednesday. That result sent shockwaves across Europe but Arsenal’s focus must now turn back towards their push for a first Barclays Women’s Super League title since 2018/2019.

Liverpool go into their latest match without long term absentees Leanne Kiernan and Rylee Foster. Summer signing Shanice van de Sanden is closing in on a return but she is still a couple of weeks away. Midfielder Ceri Holland is pushing for a recall to the starting XI.

Arsenal make the long trip to Merseyside without centre-backs Leah Williamson and Rafaelle Souza who have been sidelined for several weeks. Youngster Teyah Goldie is back in training following an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury but is not yet fully fit. Vivianne Miedema could be recalled to the starting line-up after starting the midweek fixture against Lyon on the bench.

The Barclays Women’s Super League fixture between Liverpool and Arsenal kicks-off at 12pm on Sunday afternoon. All tickets must be purchased in advance and are available here.
