Chelsea midfielder Sophie Ingle has signed a new two-year deal with the club until summer 2025.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from Chelsea this morning.
The 31-year-old Welsh international midfielder is in her second spell with The Blues after previously representing the club in 2012 and 2013. Since re-joining Chelsea in 2018, Ingle has gone on to win three Barclays Women’s Super League titles, two Vitality Women’s FA Cups, two FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cups and the FA Women’s Community Shield. The player was also a UEFA Women’s Champions League runner-up with the South West Londoners in 2020/2021.
Ingle’s experience remains a real asset to Chelsea. She possesses excellent ball-winning qualities along with a keen eye for goal when shooting from distance. The player is an important part of manager Emma Hayes’ future plans and the club will be delighted to secure Ingle’s services for an extended period.
After signing her new long-term deal with Chelsea, Ingle said “I’m really delighted to sign for Chelsea again. I feel like this club is home away from home. I’ve settled in from the very first moment that I signed about five years ago. I’m really delighted to continue this journey with this amazing club.”
Ingle and her Chelsea teammates return to action after the mid-season break when they travel to the Emirates Stadium to take on London rivals Arsenal on 15 January 2023.
