Norwegian international defender Guro Bergsvand has become Jens Scheuer’s first signing at Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Sussex club announced the transfer just a short time ago via a post on their official club website.
Bergsvand has joined Brighton & Hove Albion after most recently playing her football in her native Norway with SK Brann. The defender has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Barclays Women’s Super League club.
Bergsvand has spent the whole of her senior playing career to date in her homeland. In addition to her spell with SK Brann, the player has also featured for Lyn and Stabæk. On the international stage, Bergsvand has 19 caps to her name for the Norwegian national team at senior level in which she has scored four goals.
After securing the services of Bergsvand, Brighton & Hove Albion boss Scheuer said “Firstly we are happy that Guro has chosen to join us, I am sure that she will help us stabilise the defence.
“She has a lot of experience domestically in Norway as well as with her national team so it’s a really good signing for us.
“We are convinced by her quality, so I have no doubt that she won’t need long to adapt to the league.”
Bergsvand could be in a position to make her Brighton & Hove Albion debut against Leicester City at The King Power Stadium on Sunday 15 January 2023 subject to international clearance.
