Arsenal recall winger Gio from loan spell at Everton

Arsenal have recalled Brazilian winger Gio Queiroz from her loan spell at Everton.

The Gunners confirmed the news via a squad update on their official club website this afternoon.

Gio was set to spend the entire 2022/2023 campaign with Everton but she has now returned to parent club Arsenal at the midway point in the season.

Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall was keen to see Gio gain some experience of the English game out on loan this season but it has been indicted that the player will now play a part for The Gunners in the second half of the campaign.

During her time with Everton, Gio made 11 appearances for the Merseyside club in all competitions. Her only goal came in The Blue Girls’ final Barclays Women’s Super League fixture of 2022 as they defeated Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 at The Breyer Group Stadium.

Arsenal signed Gio from Spanish giants FC Barcelona in the summer transfer window. The player struggled for playing opportunities in her time with the Catalan club but she did have a productive loan spell at Levante last season where she scored 11 goals in 31 appearances.

Gio will now be hoping to get the opportunity to show the Arsenal fans what she can do during the second half of the season.
