Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall says that he is expecting another physical battle against Tottenham Hotspur at The Breyer Group Stadium this afternoon.
The Gunners remain unbeaten in Barclays Women’s Super League North London derbies against Spurs and they will be hoping to extend that record in Leyton this afternoon.
When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Arsenal boss Eidevall said that he expects plenty of physicality from Spurs.
“Usually, when we play against Spurs, they are a very physical side, they foul a lot and we need to handle that together with the referee of course,” Eidevall said.
“We are ready. We know that the pitch isn’t great there and we know that it is going to be a physical game, but we focus on what we can control and if we do that well, we are confident that we will win the game.”
It has been a torrid season for Spurs who recently sacked head coach Rehanne Skinner. Eidevall sees the qualities that The Lilywhites have in their ranks and he feels that they have had some bad luck in 2022/2023.
He said “I’ve seen a Tottenham that has probably been a little unlucky. They’ve been working really hard and they have a quality team of players that we have a lot of respect for.
“I expect an opponent that will try to make life very hard for us and we need to be on top of our game in order to win the game.”
Arsenal’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Tottenham Hotspur kicks-off at 3pm this afternoon.
