Bristol City have announced the news that five players are being released following the club’s promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League.
The Robins confirmed the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
Midfielder Aimee Palmer’s departure was already confirmed this morning but Bristol City have additionally advised that Chloe Bull, Lia Cataldo, Lily Greenslade and Jodie Hutton are being released.
Palmer made 18 appearances for Bristol City during their promotion campaign while defender Cataldo featured in 15 of the club’s 22 league games. Midfielder Bull made 14 appearances, Hutton enjoyed 10 outings while youngster Greenslade was very much on the fringes of the first team.
Welsh midfielder Bull has confirmed that she is moving away from the game following her release. She will now pursue career opportunities outside of football. The other players are likely to sign for new clubs over the course of the summer.
Bristol City have ended a two-year absence from the Barclays Women’s Super League. The Robins won the Barclays Women’s Championship title with a single-point margin. Lauren Smith’s side had already secured the league title prior to their 2-0 defeat to Birmingham City at St Andrew’s yesterday. The club will have to recruit well over the summer if they are to be competitive in the top flight next season.
