Bristol City announce the departure of midfielder Palmer

Barclays Women’s Championship title-winners Bristol City have announced the departure of midfielder Aimee Palmer by mutual consent.

The Robins announced the news via a post on their official club Twitter account this morning.

Palmer has enjoyed two spells as a Bristol City player. The 22-year-old started out with The Robins and made her senior debut for the club in 2017 before joining Manchester United. The midfielder returned to Bristol City in summer 2020 after leaving The Red Devils.

Since rejoining Bristol City, Palmer has made more than 50 appearances for the club in all competitions. The midfielder made 18 appearances for The Robins in the Barclays Women’s Championship this season as the club secured the league title and promotion back to the Barclays Women’s Super League.

Following conversations between Palmer and Bristol City, it has now been determined that the next chapter of the player’s career lies away from the club. Palmer moves on after leaving a personal legacy at Bristol City and she will now look for a new club over the summer.

Palmer is the first player to leave Bristol City since the club’s promotion back to the Barclays Women’s Super League was confirmed. There are expected to be a number of incoming and outgoing deals at Ashton Gate over the summer.
