Lewes announce departure of midfielder Dalton

Lewes midfielder Izzy Dalton is leaving the Barclays Women’s Championship club.

The Rookettes announced the player’s departure via a post on their official club Twitter account this morning.

Dalton joined Lewes ahead of the 2021/2022 season from Australian club Brisbane Roar. The player has gone on to make a name for herself at The Dripping Pan, starring in the centre of the midfield.

In her first season with the Sussex club, Dalton featured in all of Lewes’ 22 matches in the Barclays Women’s Championship, helping the club to record an eighth-place finish. The player was used on fewer occasions by Lewes boss Scott Booth this term but she was still able to make a positive impact in the team. Dalton leaves Lewes having made 33 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Championship in which she has scored three goals.

The midfielder has been well-travelled in her career to date. Dalton has played for clubs in England, Italy, the United States and Australia so far. It has been reported that the player will return to Australia this summer in search of her next opportunity in the game.

Dalton is the first player to leave The Dripping Pan in the close season. There is likely to be more player movement this summer as Lewes look to climb the Barclays Women’s Championship table next term.
