Melissa Phillips is hoping that her Brighton & Hove Albion side can finish the season on a high against Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.
The Seagulls are safe from any relegation trouble going into their final game of the season at Broadfield Stadium. The Sussex club come up against a Leicester City team who have also been fighting a relegation battle but they might still need a positive result to secure their own safety.
When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Brighton & Hove Albion boss Phillips said that she wants her side to end the season on a high, especially given the fact that several players will be playing their final minutes for the club this weekend.
“It’s business as usual for us on Saturday,” Phillips said. “We want to put in another good performance and hopefully, that puts us in the right position to get a result as well.
“We’ve been building a lot and we are certainly pleased with the direction in which we are moving. That comes with some difficult changes at the end of the season.
“We want to make sure that we finish on a high and send-off some players on a well-deserved high note.”
Since arriving at Brighton & Hove Albion last month, Phillips has brought an improvement in results. The 2023/2024 season feels like an exciting opportunity for the club and Phillips wants her side to keep on progressing.
She said “We want to put ourselves in the best position possible in the league and we want to keep climbing the table.
“If you look at the results this year, we’ve scored the most goals that any Brighton team has in the league but we’ve also conceded the most. We want to look at that side of it and be much more difficult to break down, focus on the resilience out of possession. We also want to keep an adaptability to play different ways.
“We would like to continue climbing the table and we want to be as competitive as possible going into this time next year.”
