Highly-rated Southampton pair Rendell and Kendall pen new deals

Highly-rated Southampton pair Kayla Rendell and Lucia Kendall have signed new two-year deals with the club.

The Saints announced the news via a post on their official club website earlier today.

Both players featured heavily for Southampton in their first season in the Barclays Women’s Championship. Goalkeeper Rendell kept an impressive nine clean sheets in 21 league outings for The Saints this season while Kendall showed her class in the Southampton midfield, scoring once in 20 league outings.

The pair are two of Southampton’s most important players and news of their contract extensions highlights the club’s continued support for the women’s team.

After signing her new deal, Rendell said “I’m really excited to continue my journey at Southampton. The club means a lot to me having spent a long time here.

“We’ve started something special and I’m excited to see what the future holds for this team.”

Also commenting on dedicating her future to Southampton, Kendall added “I’m so happy to have signed a new deal and I’m so grateful to be part of such an ambitious club.

“I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us.

“There’s no place like home!”

Southampton ended their first season in the second tier in sixth position. The Saints will be looking to push on again in 2023/2024.
