London City Lionesses midfielder Amy Rodgers has announced the news that she has left the club at the end of her contract.
The player took to her personal Twitter account to announce her departure earlier today.
Rodgers joined London City Lionesses from Liverpool in summer 2021 and she has gone on to be an ever-present for The Pride. The midfielder has made 44 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Championship in which she has scored 12 goals.
Rodgers has been an important player for London City Lionesses and her departure is undoubtedly a blow for the club.
Confirming the end to her spell with London City Lionesses, Rodgers said “My time at London City has come to an end. Thank you to the club for the opportunities you have given me.
“Thank you to all the players and staff that I’ve had the pleasure to grow alongside. Because of you all, I will always look back on this period with the fondest memories.”
Rodgers is the first player to formally leave London City Lionesses during the close season. It is understood that a number of other players are out of contract at Princes Park. A squad update is expected to be announced by the club in due course.
