Sheffield United defender Rachel Brown has signed a new contract with the club ahead of the new season.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blades this afternoon.
Brown joined Sheffield United from FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division club Nottingham Forest last summer. The player went on to make 11 appearances for The Blades in the Barclays Women’s Championship last season. After struggling for minutes at times, Brown established herself as a regular starter under new Sheffield United boss Jonathan Morgan. The player will now be hoping to kick on after signing a new deal at Bramall Lane.
After retaining Brown’s services, Sheffield United boss Morgan said “I’ve known Rachel since she was 16 and worked with her for a number of years at Leicester. She’s developed and matured mentality and that was something I picked up on since I came in here.
“She played at right-back whole heartedly and what I saw from Rachel was that even when she wasn’t playing, she had such a positive attitude and all the girls clearly love her and you can’t put a value on that.”
Brown is the fifth player to sign a new contract with Sheffield United this summer.
